Research
Our research group at Washington
State University investigates the microbiology associated with
environmental processes. General topics of interest to the group
include in situ
bioremediation, natural attenuation, and phytoremediation. Polycyclic
aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) degrading bacteria and circumneutral
iron-oxidizing bacteria represent specific microorganisms that we
target.
Common research interests are persued
by this group of Engineering faculty, including Haluk Beyenal (Chemical
Engineering), Nehal I.
Abu-Lail (Chemical Engineering
& BioEngineering) , Jefferey L.
Ullman (Biological
Systems Engineering),
and myself. Collaborative research projects
incorporate microbial biofilms, bacterial adhesion, emerging
contaminants, and
environmental microbiology.
