Research

Microbial biofilms are the primary focus of our research group.  Specific research topics include: measuring biofilm parameters with microsensors, microbial fuel cells, electron transfer mechanisms, and bioremediation.

Common research interests are persued by this group of Engineering faculty, including Nehal I. Abu-Lail (Chemical Engineering & BioEngineering) , Jefferey L. Ullman (Biological Systems Engineering), Jeremy A. Rentz (Civil & Environmental Engineering) and myself. Collaborative research projects incorporate microbial biofilms, bacterial adhesion, emerging contaminants, and environmental microbiology.
